Clarity and depth restored.
The step that makes coatings look right.
Paint correction is the controlled removal of swirls, haze, and light defects from the clear coat. On its own it transforms how light reflects off the paint. Before a ceramic install, it is the reason the coating looks the way it should.
Surface geometry, corrected.
Not a buff-and-go. A measured process.
Factory paint has thousands of microscopic scratches and imperfections that diffuse light and dull the finish. Correction removes a controlled, measured amount of clear coat to level the surface and restore how light reflects.
Blackbird runs correction before ceramic installs and as a standalone service for vehicles showing swirl marks, wash-induced scratches, or oxidation.
Every correction pass.
Measured, inspected, and verified.
- Panel-by-panel defect map
- Paint thickness readings
- High-output lighting assessment
- Correction plan sign-off
- Multi-stage compound and polish
- Machine polishing per panel
- Defect removal without leveling risk
- Panel wipe-down between stages
- Final inspection under light
- Surface prep for coating or sealant
- Residue removal and wipe-down
- Delivery photography
The paint looks like it should.
No halos under the sun. No swirl rings at night.
True color depth
Color reflects without the haze that covered it. Metallic flakes actually show.
Coating foundation
A corrected surface is what makes a ceramic or PPF installation look its best and bond its hardest.
Controlled clear coat removal
We measure paint depth before and during correction so the surface is preserved, not thinned.
Smoother wash cycles
A corrected, polished surface is easier to wash and more resistant to marring.
Four stages.
Each one verified before the next.
Assessment
Paint depth gauge readings across every panel. Defect severity mapped under multi-angle lighting.
Compound
Heavier cut on deeper defects. Machine-polished per panel, wiped between passes to verify progress.
Polish
Finer abrasives refine the surface, remove any haze from compounding, and maximize clarity.
Verify
Final inspection under high-output light. Residues removed. Surface ready for coating, sealant, or delivery.
Built into the right initial service.
Elite and Premium initial services include paint enhancement before coating. Deeper correction is scoped on a per-vehicle basis when the paint needs it.
Answers.
Before you reach out.
Is paint correction the same as buffing?
Quick buffs skip the assessment, the paint gauge, and the panel-by-panel discipline. They can also remove too much clear coat. Correction is a measured process, not a single pass.
Will correction remove every scratch?
Deep scratches that have cut into the clear coat or primer require touch-up, not correction. Surface-level defects, swirls, and hazing are what correction is for.
Do I need correction before a ceramic?
A light enhancement is included with every ceramic install and is enough for most vehicles. Heavier correction is scoped when the paint condition warrants it.
How long does it take?
A single-stage enhancement is typically a day. Multi-stage correction on a neglected vehicle can take two full days before coating.
