Ceramic Coating

Long-term paint protection.
Installed during your initial service.

Ceramic coatings bond to the clear coat and hold gloss, hydrophobicity, and contaminant resistance for years. Blackbird installs 1-year, 3-year, and multi-year coatings as part of an initial service that prepares the paint first.

What it is

A bonded layer of protection.
Not a wax. Not a sealant.

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to the factory clear coat. Once cured, it becomes a transparent sacrificial layer that takes the hit from UV, contaminants, and light abrasion before they reach the paint.

The coating lasts years rather than weeks. The gloss is deeper. The water behavior is steeper. Road grime releases with far less effort on wash day.

Why it matters

Protection that shows up every day.
Not in a brochure. On your driveway.

Hydrophobic surface

Water sheets off. Rain does less damage. Wash day is faster and less abrasive.

UV stability

Slows the oxidation and fading that aggressive sun and salt air drive in Hampton Roads.

Chemical resistance

Bird droppings, tree sap, road salt, and bug residue release before they etch the clear coat.

Depth and gloss

The coating refracts light into the paint, giving a noticeably deeper finish.

How we install

Four stages.
No corners cut on prep.

01

Decontamination

Every contaminant comes off the paint before anything goes on. Iron, tar, bonded fallout, and bug residue are removed.

02

Enhancement

Light paint correction to level the surface and maximize gloss before coating.

03

Application

Ceramic is applied panel by panel in a controlled environment, wiped at the correct flash time, and inspected under high-output light.

04

Cure

The vehicle is held in a controlled cure window before return. Aftercare instructions are delivered on handoff.

Membership Pairing

Pairs with every membership.

Ceramic coating is installed during an Elite ($999) or Premium ($1,599) initial service. Once installed, recurring Signature or Elite visits maintain the coating and keep the paint at its best.

FAQ

Answers.
Before you reach out.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

Our coatings range from 1-year to 3-5 year protection depending on the tier. Longevity also depends on maintenance and environment. Recurring washes with coating-safe chemistry extend the life.

Do I still need to wash my car?

Yes. Ceramic coatings reduce the frequency and effort required, but do not replace washing. That is why most ceramic clients pair installation with a recurring membership.

Is paint correction required?

A light enhancement is included with every coating install to maximize gloss and longevity. Deeper correction is available as an upgrade on vehicles with significant swirling or defects.

Can I wash my car right after?

We recommend waiting 7 days before the first wash, and using coating-safe chemistry thereafter.
